Hey Peter,

I think I misspoke when we talked yesterday. It actually costs us quite a bit less than a penny to serve a video -- and the cost keeps going down.

I should also mention that blip isn't just me. There's a great team of seventeen people at blip, including four other founders (Dina Kaplan, Justin Day, Charles Hope and Jared Klett). Blip wouldn't exist without these four founders.

And that's not even mentioning our more than 37,000 content creator partners, our dozens of distribution partners and all of our advertisers and advertising network partners! We've got a really big team and we work hard to make sure that everyone gets value out of blip.

And not to pick nits, but I don't really understand why appearing in a home video taken on vacation has anything to do with releasing our financials :-)

Yours,

Mike Hudack
Co-founder & CEO, blip.tv

The difference between TV and web video is vast. And, retrofitting web video with a dying TV ad model is terribly toxic. Imagine being required to watch a 15 - 30 second pre-roll every time you turned the TV on; its blasphemy.

Vimeo recently launched Plus, which is a premium services package for both consumer and commercial usage; that's how you make money.
