Had you checked with Ray Beckerman’s site for the list of lawsuits filed just within the past few days, you would not have become a shill for the RIAA, and would have your headline read that the RIAA has added a big push to intimidate ISP’s along with their continuing onslaught of customers. Please correct your article and inform your readers.

I think you answered the question before you asked it. ISPs have oversold “unlimited” bandwidth use and are looking for every excuse to impose limits without having to take the word “unlimited” out of their advertising.

The irony is that less and less of this content gives you a viable “download” option so dumb users such as myself just keep hitting “replay”.

The war really needs to be between companies that store content in various forms and companies that provide means to transmit that content.

Torrents and so forth provide all the options needed to optimize the whole thing, but it will probably require some “more harm than good” government oversight to get vendors to get out of the way and let the optimization take place.

Businesses come in all shapes and sizes and degrees of integrity. I do think they are wasting their time with limitations.
