the assumption that one should pay for everything he listens can change into: one should pay what he likes. I like an artist, I want him to survive in order to produce the art that i need… and I pay him directly (example: i dont need anymore distribution, cover art, traditional marketing etc..)

you first assumption is not true. I would pay for music on the internet, flat rates, unlimited download (DOWNLOAD and not just “listening”)
