This is an unethical move. The investors MUST BE compensated above and beyond their initial investment. Facebook is large enough and should care ethically enough to do the right thing and support the people who invested in tipjoy so that it would become worthwhile for facebook to do business with in the future.

Behind some unethical deals one may find an unethical lawyer who just wants to keep themselves busy by defending the actions of their employer, no matter how disrespectful the company may be in acknowledging the direct financial assistance of others.

If Facebook is going to misbehave from the get go, one can only imagine how ruthless they will become over time.

And another one bites the dust. Proving once again that all the millions thrown into the many variations and permutations of software-based micropayment "solutions" do not and will not ever work.

Essentially when you look at the failure of similar prior concepts such as BitPass (funded by Guy Kawasaki, no less), Peppercoin (founded by Ron Rivest of RSA Security & Verisign) and now TipJoy, each and every one of them follows pretty much the same model: develop a software-based, proprietary network that's going to take over the world. NOT! There's only one real process that will work and it has to do so while embracing the existing infrastructure instead of trying to completely break from it.

Ask PayPal: After spending millions looking at micropayments, their own solution absolutely sucks and the people who use it are the first to tell you so. Do you think if anyone could have solved it that way, wouldn't it be PayPal?

Believe it or not, Walt saw this solution several years ago and got it right away.

Wow, that's a pretty bad move. Had a termsheet but it was withdrawn and a job offered? And from reading t hat forum thread it looks like Paul Graham ASKED facebook to give him a job! That's juts bad.

Big losers are investors who bet on a guy who doesn't know what he's doing.
