I remember when Hulu was a smart and innovative company. Started up by the giants -- it seemed like another hack job. But Kilar seemed to have a different vision and passion for Hulu's direction.

http://www.fastcompany.com/node/1400882/print

But Hulu is changing with pressure from the industry. Hulu has been adding more commercials and their experience isn't what it used to be. Now this. Why would you pay for this if you could get $10 Netflix service -- which gives you access to a bigger backlog of movies/tv-shows? Hulu's only advantage is they have faster access to tv shows (Netflix you're usually waiting for dvd release).

Also Youtube has started renting movies: http://www.youtube.com/store

haha, i feel like i'm having a bad dream.

Seriously, if they just left it so you can watch the most recent X number of episodes for free, then had to pay either a pay per view or a monthly subscription for unlimited access, that would be great. Unlimited access could include a full episode listing of all the series they have, as well as haveing access to series they currently don't put on Hulu. Not to mention a vastly increased listing of feature length films, that would be great. Say $5/month? With the shear number of users that would jump on that, that would be more than enough to take care of it. Also, if you have a premium account, you should be able to go commercial free.
