A Few Tunes for Hulu: Here’s Norah Jones
Here’s a match up that makes plenty of sense: EMI Music Group, which has a new Norah Jones album to promote, is showing her videos on Hulu, the video joint venture that specializes in “premium” content. But the deal is the only one of its kind. While the big music labels have played footsie with Hulu in the past, they have yet to actually move any of their clips there. Instead, they’re concentrating on YouTube, which makes plenty of sense.

Vevo Gets Its Investor: Abu Dhabi Media Joins “Hulu for Music Videos”
Vevo, the music industry’s version of Hulu, now has its own version of Providence Equity, the outside investor that took a flyer on the Web TV and movie joint venture: Abu Dhabi Media Company has purchased a stake in the company from owners Universal Music and Sony. No financials released, though I’m told the deal values the JV at $300 million.

Sony Joins Vevo, Universal’s “Hulu For Music Videos”
Vevo, the “Hulu For Music Videos” site that Universal Music is launching with YouTube, just got a little more Hulu-like: Sony has signed on. I’m told that Sony will contribute cash and its library of music videos and will become an equity partner in the site, which until now has been wholly owned unit of UMG. Sony had already signed a deal with Google earlier this year to keep its music on YouTube, so I’m not sure what that means. More in a bit.

It’s Official: YouTube, Universal Music Launching New Video Site
The world’s largest video site and the world’s biggest music company are joining up. Google’s YouTube and Vivendi’s Universal Music Group will be launching a new site, dubbed VEVO, which will highlight UMG’s videos. This is essentially what I’ve been calling “YouTube Music,” and it’s been in the works since last fall; in March I reported that the two sides had basically hammered out a deal. It’s a pretty big deal for YouTube, the music business, and the rest of the media world.
